A playout is a live stream or channel produced by Playout.video, it is internally generated first and then restreamed or multistreamed to RTMP destinations like Youtube or Twitch. It has a running playlist which you can switch to other playlists or edit on-the-fly. Each playout has a quality where you can select from HD to 4K and specifies the aspect ratio, whether it's landscape, portrait, or square
What are the supported resolutions?
Playout.video supports a wide range of resolutions, including 4320p, 2160p, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, and 240p. Our default frame rate is 30 FPS, though 60 FPS is supported for some resolution options.
Is portrate or square mode supported?
Yes, Playout.video supports horizontal (16:9), vertical (9:16), and square (1:1).
Can I use 720p video in a 4K playout?
Yes, it is technically supported, but it's not recommended due to potential distortions during upscaling.
What is the file manager?
The file manager is a section in your dashboard where you can browse and manage the files you've uploaded or imported to Playout.video's cloud storage. Supported file types are videos, audios, folders, and playlists.
What is a playlist?
A playlist is a file in the file manager that contains references to other videos and audios. Essentially, it's a curated list of media assets that can be used in a playout.
How to import files?
You can directly import video files from your YouTube channel, playlist, or a single video by specifying the YouTube URL. Playout.video will download and optimize the file for use in your playout. Additionally, you can upload files from your local disk.
What is advanced scheduling?
Advanced scheduling allows you to configure stop/start events for a playout or restream target, such as publishing to your YouTube channel at 1:00 PM and stopping it at 2:00 PM, or do this only week days, or do it 3 times only after tomorrow 1:00 PM. You can also schedule playlist switch events on playouts, enabling automatic transitions between playlists at specified times, like change the running playlist at 8:00 AM every day to morning news.
Can I schedule ad breaks?
Yes, you can schedule ad breaks using the 'Inline Switch' item while configuring the schedule event. This pauses the current running playlist and displays new inline one, then resumes the original playlist from where it left off.
Can I create multiple playouts and live streams on my channel?
Absolutely, thanks to Playout.video's scalable architecture, you can create multiple playouts according to your subscription level.
Can I create lo-fi study music type live streams with Playout.video?
