What's New

Getting started with playout.video is now even easier with a guided onboarding wizard and a redesigned Go Live dialog.

Onboarding Wizard

When you create your first stream, a step-by-step wizard walks you through the full setup:

  1. Connect a platform — link your YouTube, Twitch, or another account (or add a custom RTMP destination)

  2. Upload content — drag and drop videos from your device, or import from YouTube

  3. Build a playlist — arrange your content in the order you want it to play

  4. Set quality — choose resolution, frame rate, and encoding profile

  5. Add overlays (optional) — brand your stream with a logo or text in the composition editor

  6. Go live — hit the button and your stream starts

Each step includes tips and can be revisited at any time. If you skip a step, you can come back to it later from the stream's settings.

Go Live Dialog

The new Go Live button opens a confirmation dialog that shows:

  • Which destinations are connected and ready

  • Current quality settings

  • Playlist summary

  • Any warnings (e.g. no content uploaded, missing destination)

One click to confirm and your stream starts. No more hunting through settings to make sure everything is configured correctly.

Trial Users

The onboarding wizard tracks your progress and connects it to your free trial. When you connect your first platform and go live, the platform records it — helpful for our team to ensure your trial goes smoothly.

Returning Users

The wizard only appears for new streams that haven't been configured yet. Experienced users see the standard stream creation flow and can access Go Live directly from the stream detail page.
