TikTokMultistreamingImprovement

Improved TikTok Streaming Compatibility

Updated TikTok integration with refreshed RTMP endpoint patterns for better reliability and compatibility with TikTok's current ingest infrastructure.

What's Better

TikTok's live ingest endpoints have evolved over the past year. We've updated our TikTok integration to match, refreshed URL patterns, better connection reliability, fewer "stream won't connect to TikTok" issues.

If you've been streaming to TikTok and occasionally seen the destination fail to start, this update addresses it.

AnalyticsEmbedNew Feature

Live Viewer Counts on the Embedded Player

Your embedded player can now show a live 'N watching' badge, and your dashboard shows the same concurrent-viewer number in real time. Here is how the count works and how to turn it on.

What's New

Two places now show how many people are watching your embedded stream, live:

  • On the player: an optional "N watching" badge, the same social proof viewers expect from YouTube or Twitch, now on your own website

  • In your dashboard: the Embed tab shows watching now next to the embed toggle, updating every few seconds while the stream is live

The badge is a per-embed setting (Show viewer count), off or on with one switch. The dashboard number is always there for you either way.

QualityEmbedNew Feature

Adaptive Quality (ABR): Every Viewer Gets the Right Stream

Embedded players now stream with an adaptive bitrate ladder: multiple qualities generated live, with each viewer's player picking the best one their connection can carry, moment to moment.

What's New

Streams embedded on your website now play with adaptive bitrate (ABR). Instead of sending one fixed quality to everyone, the stream is transcoded live into a ladder of qualities, and each viewer's player continuously picks the best rung their connection can carry.

You don't configure the ladder; you just get it. Create an embed and adaptive playback is the default.

WebsiteEmbedNew Feature

Stream to Your Own Website: the Embedded Player Is Here

Business workspaces can now embed their live channel on any website with a single iframe: adaptive quality, live rewind (DVR), domain restrictions, viewer counts, and rotatable player links.

What's New

Your channel no longer has to live only on other people's platforms. With the new Embed feature, any stream in a Business workspace gets a hosted player you can drop into any page:

<iframe
  src="https://stream.playout.video/e/YOUR_PLAYER_ID"
  style="width:100%;aspect-ratio:16/9;border:0"
  allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture"
  allowfullscreen></iframe>

Copy the snippet from the stream's Embed tab, paste it into your site, done. The same channel keeps multistreaming to YouTube, Twitch, and everywhere else; the embed is one more place it lives, except this one is yours.

TeamsBillingWorkspacesNew Feature

Multiple Workspaces: Separate Brands, Separate Billing

You can now run several workspaces under one account, each with its own media library, team, plan, and billing. Create one from the workspace switcher and check out in a minute.

What's New

One account can now hold multiple workspaces, and each workspace is its own world:

  • Its own media library, streams, calendars, and overlays

  • Its own team and permissions

  • Its own plan and billing: each workspace subscribes separately, so a client's Business workspace and your own Creator workspace live side by side

Creating one takes a minute: open the workspace switcher in the sidebar, choose Create workspace, name it, pick a plan, and check out. You land in the new workspace ready to upload.

The Channel Plan: Run Your Channel Like a TV Network for $39/mo

The new Channel tier turns the broadcast Calendar into a plan: schedule your programming, let the stream start and stop itself, swap playlists automatically, and multistream to 8 destinations.

What's New

There's a new plan between Creator and Business: Channel, at $39/mo billed annually ($49 monthly). It's the plan for people who don't just want a stream that's live, they want a channel that's programmed.

Channel takes everything in Creator and adds broadcast automation:

  • Calendar-run streams: your channel goes live when the schedule says so, not when you press a button

  • Auto start and auto stop around your scheduled windows

  • Scheduled playlist swaps and automated actions

  • Recurring programming: daily, weekly, monthly blocks that run forever

New Plans: a Real Free Plan, the Channel Tier, and Annual Pricing

playout.video pricing has been rebuilt around what you do, not just how sharp your video looks: a permanent Free plan, a new Channel tier for programmed channels, and annual pricing that saves real money.

What's New

We've rebuilt our plans from the ground up. The short version:

  • Free is now a real plan. No trial clock, no card required. Build and run a branded stream for as long as you keep the account.

  • Plans now map to what you do, not just video quality. Creator runs a 24/7 loop. Channel runs a programmed, calendar-driven channel. Business puts the stream on your own website.

  • Annual pricing is here, and it's the headline price: Creator at $19/mo, Channel at $39/mo, Business at $119/mo when billed annually.

If you're already a paying customer: nothing is taken away. More on that below.

What's New

Drop a video or image overlay onto your composition. Toggle on Green Screen Removal. The system keys out the green background automatically. What's left is your subject, ready to composite over any background.

OverlaysOverlay TemplatesNew Feature

Overlay Templates: Save Your Branding Once, Apply Everywhere

Save a complete overlay design as a template: logo, lower thirds, frame, Now Playing, the works, and apply it to entire playlists and calendar entries with one click.

What's New

You can now save a complete overlay design, logo, lower thirds, frame, Now Playing, every element of the Composition Editor, as a reusable Overlay Template.

Apply a template to a playlist and every video in the playlist plays with that overlay. Apply it to a calendar entry and that entry plays with that overlay. Build it once. Use it everywhere.

ReliabilityImprovement

Stronger Stream Recovery: Fewer Drops, Faster Restarts

Streams now recover automatically from a wider range of hiccups: corrupted frames, network blips, momentary file issues. The result: fewer drops and faster, invisible recoveries.

What's Better

Streams are now significantly more resilient to mid-stream hiccups.

A handful of edge cases that used to cause stalls or drops, corrupted frames, brief network blips, momentary file access issues, now recover automatically, usually within a few seconds, without your viewers noticing.

The visible result: fewer "the stream went down" moments and faster recovery when something does go wrong.

Smoother Playlist Transitions: Pre-Loaded Next Items

The next item in your playlist now loads into memory while the current item is playing. Transitions between videos are seamless: no half-second stutter, no buffering blink.

What's Better

Transitions between videos in a playlist are now seamless.

The next item is loaded into memory while the current item is playing. By the time the current item ends, the next one is ready to start instantly, no buffering blink, no momentary frozen frame, no half-second stutter.

If you've been running 24/7 streams and noticed the occasional half-second blink between clips, this is the fix.

What's New

What's New

Every block on the Calendar can now recur automatically, daily, weekly, or monthly.

Build your weekly schedule once. The blocks repeat themselves, on the days and times you set, forever. Or until a date you specify. Or for a fixed number of occurrences.

Calendar: Program Your Live Channel Like a TV Network

A new Scheduled Stream type with a full visual calendar. Drag videos, playlists, and compositions onto a timeline. Set recurrence. Run your channel like a TV network: without thinking about it again.

What's New

We're shipping the most-requested feature of the past year: a visual calendar for programming your stream.

It's TV-style programming for the streaming era. Set it once. Watch it run.

New FeatureLive StudioLayouts

Custom Layouts: Build Your Own Scene in Live Studio

The Custom layout in Live Studio lets you drag, resize, and layer sources anywhere on the canvas. Save your own layouts and switch to them like the built-in presets.

What's New

The eight layout presets in Live Studio cover most shows. But sometimes you want something the presets can't do, an asymmetric panel, a magazine-style layout, a branded frame with sources in specific spots.

The Custom layout lets you build your own. Drag any source to any position. Resize it, layer it, save it. Switch back to it next week with a single click, just like the presets.

What's New

Live Studio now has a dedicated Record button alongside Go Live.

Click Record to capture your show, host, guests, layouts, screen shares, overlays, the whole thing, to your media library, without broadcasting to a single destination.

When you're ready to broadcast, click Go Live instead. Or run a recording-only session this week and a live one next week. Same workflow, same setup.

RTMPNew FeatureLive Studio

Add RTMP Source: Plug In Hardware Encoders, Phones, and Remote Cameras

Live Studio now accepts RTMP sources. Bring in a hardware encoder, a smartphone with a streaming app, a drone, or a camera at a remote venue: and treat it like any other source on your canvas.

What's New

You can now bring RTMP sources (and WHIP) straight into Live Studio.

Click Add RTMP Source in the Sources panel, get a unique RTMP URL and stream key, and point any encoder at it, a hardware encoder rack at a venue, a smartphone with a streaming app, a drone, an IP camera, OBS on someone else's machine, anything that speaks RTMP.

Plan availability: RTMP & WHIP ingest into Live Studio is included on the Business and Enterprise plans. Browser (WebRTC) cameras and guest invites remain available on every plan.

Live Studio: Go Live with Cameras, Guests, and Layouts

A new way to broadcast on playout.video. Bring on guests, switch between layouts, share your screen, and go live to every platform at once: straight from your browser.

What's New

Live Studio is a new stream type that lets you produce a real, interactive live show entirely in your browser. Bring on guests, share your screen, switch between professional layouts, drop in clips from your media library, and broadcast to every destination you've connected, all from one tab.

If you've been using playout.video to run a Live Channel (our 24/7 looping stream), you can now also go live in front of the camera. And if you've been wrestling with downloadable streaming software, capture cards, and per-guest invitations, Live Studio replaces all of it.
