Inline Playlist Switching & Auto-Sync Edits
Two playlist upgrades: inline switching lets you temporarily play different content, and auto-sync pushes playlist edits to your live stream without restarting.
What's New
Managing playlists on a live 24/7 stream just got significantly easier with two new features.
Inline Playlist Switching
Sometimes you need to interrupt your regular playlist, to play an announcement, a sponsor segment, or a special event, and then return to normal programming.
Inline mode does exactly that. Mark a playlist item as inline and it plays immediately when triggered. Once it finishes, playback automatically returns to where your main playlist left off. No manual switching, no stream restart.
Use cases:
Breaking news or announcements: interrupt the schedule, then resume
Sponsor segments: insert a promotional clip between regular content
Live event coverage: switch to event content temporarily
Auto-Sync Playlist Edits
Editing a playlist while it is live no longer needs a restart, or a push. A stream follows its playlist: add a video, remove a clip or reorder items in the playlist editor, and the live stream takes the change a few seconds after you save it.
What is on air keeps playing. The video playing now carries on from where it is, and the stream goes on in the new order after it. If you remove the video that is on air, the stream moves on to the one that would have played next.
A burst of edits lands once. Dragging several items in a row reaches the stream as one change, a couple of seconds after you stop.
Composition versions and overlays follow too. A composition saved as a new version, or an overlay assigned to the playlist or one of its videos, reaches the stream the same way.
Edits on the stream page are saved to the playlist. Changes you make in the stream's playlist panel are written to the playlist as well, so the two never drift apart.
A stopped stream catches up when it starts. Changes made while a stream is stopped are in place at its next start, and it picks up from the video it stopped on.
Shuffled streams stay shuffled. Added videos join the mix and removed ones leave it, without resetting the order.
If you empty a playlist that a stream is playing, the stream keeps what it has until the playlist has videos again.
How It Works
Open your playlist in the editor
Make your changes (add, remove, reorder)
Save: the running stream follows within seconds
No "Push to live" needed. The playlist status on the stream page shows the playlist the stream follows.
Want a one-off change without touching the playlist?
Open the playlist status on the stream page and choose Save as new playlist, then Save and switch. The stream now follows the copy, which you can change freely while the original stays as it was. Switch back to the original from Switch when you are done. A switch starts the playlist from its first video.
