Custom Layouts: Build Your Own Scene in Live Studio
The Custom layout in Live Studio lets you drag, resize, and layer sources anywhere on the canvas. Save your own layouts and switch to them like the built-in presets.
What's New
The eight layout presets in Live Studio cover most shows. But sometimes you want something the presets can't do, an asymmetric panel, a magazine-style layout, a branded frame with sources in specific spots.
The Custom layout lets you build your own. Drag any source to any position. Resize it, layer it, save it. Switch back to it next week with a single click, just like the presets.
What You Can Do
Drag sources anywhere on the canvas
Resize with corner handles
Layer sources on top of each other
Position relative to your overlays: fit sources around your logo, frame, or lower-third
Save custom layouts for reuse
Switch between custom layouts with one click
Why It Matters
Branded shows need branded layouts. A custom layout lets you:
Match your show's visual identity exactly
Place sources around fixed graphics (frames, lower thirds, scoreboards)
Build asymmetric arrangements (one big speaker, two small)
Create a specific layout for a recurring segment ("This Week in Numbers")
Fit awkward source mixes (vertical phone footage on a horizontal canvas)
How to Build One
Open your Live Studio stream
Click Layout in the sidebar
Click Custom
Drag your sources into position, resize as needed
Click Save Layout and give it a name
The new layout appears alongside the presets
You can build as many custom layouts as you want. Each one switches in instantly during a live show.
